What to do if you're in a car accident
- Remain at the scene. Do not admit fault.
- Move to a safe location, call the police, and exchange driver and insurance information.

Auto insurance claims
- Report the accident to police if required and exchange information with other drivers.
- Take photos of damage, the scene, and any relevant street signs or weather conditions.
- Contact FCIB or your carrier as soon as possible — delays can affect coverage.
- Your carrier assigns an adjuster; we help you understand estimates, repairs, and rental coverage.
Home & property claims
- Protect the property from further damage (tarps, shut off water, etc.) and keep receipts.
- Document damage with photos and video before major cleanup when safe to do so.
- Report the loss to your carrier; for hurricanes or widespread events, timing matters.
- You may choose your own contractor. Your claims rep coordinates inspections and updates.
Motorcycle & ATV claims
- Get medical help first if anyone is injured, then report to police if needed.
- Photograph gear, vehicle damage, and the scene before anything is moved.
- Notify FCIB and your carrier — custom parts and accessories may need separate documentation.
Boat & PWC claims
- Ensure everyone is safe and report the incident to authorities if required on the water.
- Document hull damage, onboard equipment, and towing details.
- Marine claims often involve surveyors — we help coordinate with your carrier's process.
Business insurance claims
- Secure the premises and preserve evidence for liability or property losses.
- Notify FCIB promptly — business interruption and liability claims are time-sensitive.
- Gather payroll records, revenue history, and repair estimates your carrier may request.
Life insurance claims
- Obtain certified copies of the death certificate as required by the carrier.

Most carriers let you pick the body shop. You may also accept a payment for damages without completing repairs — check with your lender if you have a loan or lease.

Photo estimates
